I believe the "W" models are staying with the linkage-less PDS rear suspension.

They claim the linkage suspension is better for high speed / MX / SX.  I highly doubt that any normal rider would be able to tell the difference.  It's all marketing in my eyes.

Crf is going to race tools tommorrow for top end. Athena piston kit and a cam chain at minimum. Ill have him look it all over and inspect he valves while its open and hopefully they hadnt moved in the time between may and november. Got a new shifter so all ill need is a chain and front tire to be ready for spring.

The power isnt the problem, its the rider. Last year i started learninghow to be aggressive and be on the throttle alot but no control or any idea what i was supposed to be doing. So when i would crash, it was usually pretty brutal and no longer just a tipover. Bike has plenty of power for me in the woods now that its not choked up  anymore. If i want more power ill just get a 2 stroke 250 again i think.

The stock 250X has good power, but you have to ride the wheels off it to reach its full potential.  The 280 would give a faster rider that extra power, but I think it makes it a little easier for a less advanced rider to ride it also.  From what I've read it gives it a little more meat all over.  The 280 would be sweet, but if I were you I'd focus on trying to get the most out of the stock motor before you mess with it.  We can work on that this year!

I could also buy a r cam and get alot of power that way if i needed to. There can be a good gain there, for less money. 800 dollars is alot of money to
Spend on a bike that i only wring out to the max when im in a field or grass track or dirt road. If i had that kind of money to spend i would get it. Ah, to be a bachelor again..

The R cam would probably be cheap.  I'm sure there are a few blown up Rs with good cams now for sale on ebay.

I would probably just rebuild it as well, and leave it stock.

Yes the BB is alot of money but is more then just more HP.  It adds more torque across the powerband that you often use.  Learning to ride and use what you have is great but I'm guessing with your size a little more power in the middle might be a huge benefit for you.

I wouldn't cough up the money for the BB on the x either...

the BB kit might sound like a lot of money, but gary gives support pricing on the kits so there only around $550. youll spend at least $250 for a topend rebuild. so the BB kit really only costs you $300-250

The 250X that I rode had the stock cams out of the 2007 CRF250R in it.  The owner said it made a big difference.  I gave him the cams for free when I upgraded to hotcams in my CRF.

The 280 kit would also move me up into a 450 class also wouldnt it. I sure dont want that. Im pushing my pocket enough rebuilding it, im not going for the big bore kit. I really dont need it. By the time i need that kind of power ill be buying another bike by then.
